Richard Straker closes down BBC One on the night the clocks go back.

Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan for Richard.

The clock was still a mechanical device at this point, and so, in order to achieve the effect of winding it back one hour on air, they had to pre-record some footage on tape, and then cut between the live physical model and the recording.

But Richard seems to have cut up the live Noddy shot from the start, and got lost in the desk when attempting to mix from what he thought was the recording showing the time as being one hour later.

And sorry, we only have a short snippet of the globe and National Anthem. Richard cut to the globe at the point this clip ends.
