In the late-1980s, the BBC broadcast an overnight service called British Medical Television.

The programme was scrambled. And as you can see from the clip below, there was no continuity announcement going into the programme.

[00:00:00] TEST CARD: if BBC Two was carrying overnight BMTV, the test card would appear a few minutes after the sign-off from the BBC Two announcer, at the end of the main schedule.

The test card would then cut to the BMTV programme at the allotted time.

[00:00:13] PROGRAMME: the British Medical Television service was scrambled. This clip provides an idea of the scrambling effect.
