The bulletin is dominated by the news of the murder of John Lennon. As this was in the days before breakfast TV, these were the first pictures from the US most UK viewers will have seen.

During the first two-and-a-half minutes of the programme (covered by this clip), we see a mixture of black and white photographs and VT footage from the US, with a verbal narrative provided by the news presenter.
