From that strange period where the Brookside omnibus was put out cropped to 14:9 – and it was cropped from 4:3, it wasn’t the case that it was made in 16:9 like Hollyoaks was.

In fact you’ll notice they’ve framed it by cropping all the picture from the bottom but nothing from the top. This is how it’s been on all the mid-90s omnibus editions I’ve seen. Quite an unusual decision.
