This Day in History: 1984-11-03
The technicians strike at Thames Television (which began on 17th October) is resolved. 62 film editors agreed to new conditions, while the ACTT agreed to start negotiations about the introduction of new technology. Additional episodes of network productions were screened to help clear the backlog of untransmitted material that had built up during the strike (programmes from the network schedule that would’ve been supplied by other ITV companies were not broadcast during the strike). Thames said: “We are delighted in the outcome of the dispute which we believe is in the best interests of everyone who works at Thames.”
