This Day in History: 1964-04-20

BBC Test Card E is introduced. The design was intended for use on the 625-line UHF system, used by BBC Two. Reports regarding the length of service of this design vary – some claim it was withdrawn after only one day, others say it remained in use for about a month. Its replacement was a modified version of Test Card C, which remained in use until 1967, when Test Card F came along.
