Question: what proportion of pedestrians killed on the roads are over 60 years old?
Answer: about half.
Question: what is the best way to avoid being involved in a road accident?
Answer: choose the safest time possible for your trip. Think about your trip, so that you can cut down on the number of times you have to cross the road.
Question: where should you cross the road?
Answer: at a pedestrian crossing.
Question: what should you do about approaching vehicles?
Answer: assess their speed to make sure there’s time to cross. Watch out for any unexpected turns towards you.
Question: and the drivers of these vehicles?
Answer: check that the driver has seen you and that he’s doing what you expect.
