A musical end to the day on BBC Two.
Video content
[00:00:00] PROGRAMME: the closing seconds of All Music Ella.
[00:00:19] PROGRAMME MENU GRAPHIC: previewing BBC Two programmes for Easter Monday evening.
A slightly different format to the norm. Usually, these captions featured a scenery-based background.
Here though we have a basic blue background for the programme listings and a red/pink background for the “Easter Monday” banner along the top (which is in a different font to that normally used for the day of the week).
And also unusual to have the top banner in a different colour from the programme listings.
[00:01:15] CLOCK: the standard BBC Two clock is used to preview some offerings tomorrow on BBC Radio.
Note the horizontally off-centre “==2==” logo at the bottom. It’s somehow been shunted to the left. This was a relatively short-lived fault.
[00:02:30] GRAPHIC: a selection of slides, accompanied by music.
Can you identify the track playing here?
[00:03:58] IDENT: as the music comes to an end, the standard BBC Two symbol puts in a brief appearance.
Where slide presentations and music occurred at closedown, some announcers ended with a brief glimpse of the BBC Two symbol – sometimes animating it off screen.
Just over thirty seconds after the ident is faded out to black and silence, test tone is faded up.
About two minutes and twenty seconds of tone follows.
Just under twenty seconds later, vision is cut, before returning again just over fifteen seconds later.
A little under thirty seconds later, vision is cut again. Our recording terminates shortly after this. But we expect this action would now trigger the overnight shutdown of the transmitter network.
