A sting is a short video sequence (usually with a musical accompaniment) – typically 1 to 5 seconds duration. They are generally used immediately prior to a promotional trail. Another use is as a shorter alternative to a channel ident, to introduce the next programme. The sting should not be confused with a break bumper.
