Graham James closes down Granada for the night in 1985. Granada followed the same closedown routine until the introduction of a 24-hour service.
Video content
[00:00:00] IN-VISION CONTINUITY: announcer Graham James provides a summary of the weather, before informing us about some maintenance work at the Bacup and Millom Park transmitters.
[00:01:12] CLOCK: the clock is accompanied by the usual Granada closedown music, arranged by Keith Mansfield.
[00:02:08] IDENT: as ever, the clock would normally give way to the Granada ident for the final minute or so of the music. This looks like a computer-generated version of the ident, rather than the familiar 35mm slide version.
Gareth Joy contacted us with a little more information: “Apparently, the electronic ident came in at the same time as the clock (c.1982 – both generated by GEC McMichael) – which appears to be around the time more IVC started to appear on Granada.”
Gareth also brought to our attention the absence of the usual closedown reminder about Independent Local Radio.
[00:03:00] TEST CARD: the Grandaa NCR-branded test card and tone.
