Most Open University transmissions were played out from a special continuity suite – OU Con. Announcers had the ability to transmit on both BBC One and BBC Two simultaneously from this suite.
It was common for OU transmissions to be going out on both channels for a portion of Saturday and Sunday mornings. Where this was the case, there was usually a ten-minute difference in programme start times, to allow the announcer to get a programme set up for playout.
The programmes were played out from U-Matic tapes.
