[00:00:00] CHANNEL LAUNCH: we start off with a map of the east of of England in view, and a transmitter’s pulsating radio waves helpfully illustrating the catchment area for Anglia TV.
We then mix to the channel’s on air clock at exactly 4.14pm – one minute to launch.
We’re then presented with an aerial shot of the Mendlesham transmitter. This was the opening seconds of a longer piece of film, showing various aerial shots of the east of England. Most of this footage is not available on our copy.
We then join Lord Townshend of Raynham, the chairman of Anglia Television who asks Sir Ivan Kirkpatrick, chairman of the Independent Television Authority, to formally open the station.
We then launch into the full original version of Anglia’s ‘Knight’ ident.
Chief announcer, Drew Russell welcomes viewers.
