[00:00:00] CLOCK: BBC Two closes down after the late-night Weatherview with Michael Fish. Announcer David Wheal mentions a tribute to the tenor Sir Peter Pears – who died that day – which will be played on BBC Radio 3 at their closedown.
And with a final time check, the announcer wishes us a safe and peaceful night. We then have a further 30 seconds of the relatively new clock, ticking away in silence.
It’s worth noting that the clock equipment for BBC Two had a higher resolution channel logo and hour markings than the BBC One equivalent, which was introduced only a year earlier.
BBC Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales were never supplied with kit that provided an accurate reproduction of the BBC Two clock in the 1986 – 1991 era.
