FROM THE ARCHIVE OF: TC2
In January 1987, Yorkshire TV unveiled an expensive update of their on-screen presentation.
[00:00:00] IDENT: referred to as the Liquid Gold ident by presentation enthusiasts.
[00:00:00] PRE-PROGRAMME IDENT: this version is thought to have been used mostly as a pre-programme ident for shows produced by Yorkshire TV. It would’ve been seen across the ITV network immediately prior to shows produced by YTV. The practice of networked pre-programme idents ceased in January 1988.
Twitter user @jamesthedog2001 tells us that YTV continued to include pre-programme idents on its shows perhaps as late as summer 1989, even though these idents were not transmitted from 1st January 1988.
[00:00:00] PRE-PROGRAMME IDENT: this ident was obviously used for Yorkshire TV outside broadcasts – but it’s unclear if it was used only within the region or if it managed to get any network outings as a pre-programme ident.
