On 8th November 1999, many of the ITV regional companies unveiled a new look. The new on-screen presentation package – titled TV from the Heart of Life – was designed by English & Pockett. The music that accompanied the idents was composed by David Dundas.
One of the key aims of the rebranding project was to give ITV a common look, across all the franchises. The last attempt at such a thing – in 1989 – largely failed.
The 1999 project was considerably more successful. With the exception of UTV, Scottish, Grampian and Carlton (London), the other regional franchises adopted the package. LWT, though, dropped the OSP by March 2000, and introduced a new package, produced in-house.
