On 1st July 1967, BBC Two formally launched a colour service.

[00:00:00] IDENT: this was the UK’s first colour channel ident.
There’s not a lot of information in the public domain about BBC Two presentation from this period, and certainly precious little surviving video footage.
Whilst we don’t believe this ident animation – which was on film – was used that much each day, we don’t know what the alternative slide/mechanical version looked like.
The launch date for this ident isn’t entirely clear. Some believe it was introduced on 1st July 1967. But there’s some evidence that suggests this may not not have been the case and that the ident may not have appeared until early December 1967.
