As we join the programme with the network announcer still speaking, it’d be interesting to know how BBC One Scotland and BBC One Wales dealt with this junction. They normally had their own Christmas idents too – which were completely different from those used on network. BBC One Northern Ireland took network junctions all day on Christmas Day.
[00:01:22] PROGRAMME: the announcer’s audio is cut off briefly.
We see a live aerial shot of BBC Television Centre, prior to the construction of Stage 5 and Stage 6.
Then we move to another camera shot – initially showing us the helicopter that was taking the aerial shot of TVC, before moving to provide a shot of the London cityscape before zooming in on the British Telecom Tower, where the programme will be based.
