The late local news and weather at closedown.
Video content
[00:00:00] PROGRAMME: the closing seconds of the late film, Rear Window.
Includes the Universal ident.
[00:00:19] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: the network BBC One trail for the film Indecent Proposal.
At the end of the trail, we catch a fraction of a second of the network BBC One Christmas symbol.
[00:00:44] PROGRAMME GRAPHIC: standard BBC One Northern Ireland slide for BBC Inside Ulster News.
[00:01:27] PROGRAMME GRAPHIC: standard BBC One Northern Ireland slide for Weather.
A bit of an aliasing issue with the text on this slide.
[00:01:52] CLOCK: with the usual reminder that BBC Radio Ulster is on the air throughout the night, broadcasting the BBC World Service, it’s goodnight and Happy Christmas from BBC One Northern Ireland.
[00:02:28] IDENT: one of the variations of the BBC One Christmas symbol is used here. Initially, we hear the audio from the ident. This then gives way to the National Anthem.
At [00:03:10] the ident animation ceases.
At [00:03:25] we fade to black, and a couple of seconds later, BBC Northern Ireland’s local test tone is heard (this usually began with the slight picture disturbance seen in this clip, where elements of the VBI come into view).
Not quite sure why locally generated tone was used here, as network was closing down at more or less the same time – and on such occasions, the standard practice was to join network for their test tone and take the local continuity desk out-of-circuit.
