A little bit of fun at closedown on BBC Two.

[00:00:00] PROGRAMME: the final seconds of the film, Death in Venice.
[00:00:24] PROGRAMME GRAPHIC: standard BBC Two template – for L’argent.
That’s next Sunday night’s film on BBC Two – at 11.55pm.
Note the unusually slow fading up of this slide.
[00:00:45] STING: one of the standard BBC Two stings of the time.
[00:00:48] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for The Mushroom Picker.
The drama airs on Wednesday at 9.25pm on BBC Two.
[00:01:18] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for Horizon.
The programme airs tomorrow at 8pm on BBC Two.
[00:01:52] CLOCK: starting with a sound effect played in by the announcer, giving the impression that the falling jar of mayonnaise at the end of the preceding trail has just smashed on the floor of the continuity suite.
With a pointer in the direction of the sounds of BBC Radio – Nicky Horne on BBC Radio 1 and Charles Nove on BBC Radio 2 – it’s goodnight from BBC Two.
We then fade to a slide showing only the background of the clock (i.e., no clock face), before fading to black.
About 45 seconds later, GLITS/test tone is faded up.
Test tone ceases after about 2.25 minutes.
About 1.25 minutes later, at [00:07:09], we get a very brief burst of test card and tone, before the vision signal is cut, triggering the overnight shutdown of the transmitter network.
For a few seconds we see the teletext signal come into shot.
For much of the remainder of the clip, we see the test line from the VBI appearing at random vertical positions on the screen.
The transmitter shuts down at [00:17:38].
