A couple of late-night RTÉ One junctions.
Video content
[00:00:00] PROGRAMME MENU GRAPHIC: an animated graphic based on the Millennium ident.
We join this junction a little late. The announcer has already started talking through the programmes listed on screen.
An instrumental version of Jingle Bells is playing in the background. Though RTÉ One’s Christmas idents and associated presentation ceased on the 26th December.
[00:00:21] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for Schindler’s List.
The film airs on Thursday at 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
[00:00:51] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for The Premiership.
The programme airs on Tuesday at 10.20pm on RTÉ Network 2.
[00:01:22] PROGRAMME: the RTÉ Late News, presented by Angie Mezetti, including opening/closing titles.
This bulletin is presented from a small set based in the Presentation department. For a number of years in the 1990s, CSO was used to insert a background for these bulletins. The background you see here is physically present.
[00:03:27] PROGRAMME: the RTÉ Weather, presented by Joan Blackburn.
We also see the opening/closing sponsorship sting and the standard RTÉ One weather sting.
[00:05:34] PROGRAMME: a pause for reflection with An Evening Prayer.
[00:06:34] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for Celebrate 2000.
Featuring presenters Pat Kenny, Miriam O’Callaghan, Liz Bonnin, Mark Little, Geri Mae and Joe Duffy.
The programme starts at 9.30am on New Year’s Eve on RTÉ One.
[00:07:35] PROGRAMME GRAPHIC: the design used here is based on imagery from the Millennium ident. This example of for Bogart – A Centenary Celebration: The Maltese Falcon.
The film airs at 11.55pm.
[00:07:43] IDENT: the RTÉ One Millennium ident is used to link into the next programme.
This ident was used extensively from the 27th December until the early days of January. It remained in use for the rest of the year but only for links into Millennium-related programming, such as 100 Years.
