FROM THE ARCHIVE OF: The TV Room
Time for Pages from Ceefax on BBC Two.
Video content
[00:00:00] PROGRAMME: the final portion of an edition of Asia Today, presented by Mike Embley.
BBC Two had been simulcasting BBC News 24 for a portion of the night. This usually happened if BBC Two closed down before BBC One. And when BBC One eventually joined BBC News 24 for the night, BBC Two would switch to Pages from Ceefax – as we’ll see here.
[00:00:46] STING: BBC Two ends this BBC News 24 simulcast by playing a BBC News 24 sting.
[00:00:54] PROGRAMME PROMOTION: for Drugland.
The programme airs tomorrow at 9pm on BBC Two.
[00:01:24] IDENT: one of the three Christmas idents used in December 2004/early January 2005 – Snowman – is used here to link into Pages from Ceefax.
[00:01:47] TELETEXT IN-VISION: for the remainder of the night (until 6am), BBC Two will be showing Pages from Ceefax, accompanied by music.
The initial tracks played here were recovered during a clear out of the BBC Presentation dept in 2004. The first two were heard back in the late-1970s and 1980s during the gaps between schools programmes on BBC One. The third track was from a mid-1980s BBC Two Ceefax tape – Butterfly.
The music heard here:
[00:01:47] BART performed by Ruby.
[00:07:11] Star Wars (Main Theme) performed by James Last and his Orchestra.
[00:10:29] From a Sidewalk Cafe performed by Frank Mills.
[00:14:12] Unknown.
