[00:00:52] PROGRAMME GRAPHIC: standard BBC One slide for The Mrs Merton Show Christmas Special.
The programme airs at 12.25am.
The slide is voiced by the BBC Northern Ireland announcer. Note the network slide is used here rather than a BBC Northern Ireland-branded version.
[00:00:58] IDENT: the standard BBC One globe symbol is used to link into Review 96.
Not quite sure why the BBC Northern Ireland announcer gives way to the network announcer here, nor why the network symbol is used.
It does look as though there’s a slow mix (though not overly slowly) into the start of the programme – almost certainly to take advantage of the positioning of the globe featured in the opening titles. It’s possible that the network BBC One symbol was burnt into the programme’s title sequence.
But no reason why the nations couldn’t have used there own symbols and avoid the network mix. There was still a little time before the globe in the titles started to move position.
[00:01:05] PROGRAMME: the first couple of minutes of Review 96 presented by Justin Webb. A look back at some of the people and news stories that hit the headlines over the past 12 months.
Our clip features an opening montage of images from news stories from the last year.
